Triple threat: new Pre-Surgery combo targets stomach cancer

NCT ID NCT07182565

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether giving a shorter course of radiation (hypofractionated radiotherapy) along with immunotherapy (serplulimab) and chemotherapy before surgery can safely improve outcomes for people with gastroesophageal junction cancer. The trial will enroll 84 participants with locally advanced but resectable disease. The goal is to find the best radiation dose and see how many patients have no cancer left at the time of surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

hypofractionated radiotherapy, serplulimab (PD-1 inhibitor), paclitaxel, and TS-1

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a more effective pre-surgery treatment for gastroesophageal junction cancer, potentially increasing the chance of complete tumor removal and long-term control.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1/2) with a small number of participants (84). The combination may cause significant side effects, and it is not yet known if it will improve survival or cure rates.
