New study tests gentler oxygen therapy for COPD patients after ventilator
NCT ID NCT07381686
First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study compares two types of breathing support—high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and noninvasive ventilation (NIV)—in 150 adults with COPD who have just had a breathing tube removed. The goal is to see which method better prevents the need for re-inserting the tube within 72 hours. Participants must have mild carbon dioxide buildup and stable blood pressure. The results could help doctors choose a more comfortable and effective support option for these patients.
