First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing the hernia sac during surgery for a paraesophageal hernia (a type of hiatal hernia) reduces tension on the repair. High tension is linked to higher chances of the hernia coming back. Researchers will measure tension before and after sac removal in 42 adults aged 18-80 having this surgery. The goal is to find a simple way to improve long-term results.
