AI could help predict sudden cardiac death in hereditary heart disease patients
NCT ID NCT07257289
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study aims to improve how doctors predict the risk of sudden cardiac death or heart failure in people with inherited heart diseases. Researchers will use artificial intelligence to analyze data from 1,000 participants, including medical history, ECGs, imaging, genetic tests, and biomarkers. The goal is to better identify who truly needs a defibrillator and who can avoid unnecessary procedures.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate way to predict who is at risk of sudden cardiac death or heart failure, helping doctors decide who needs a defibrillator.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The AI model may not prove accurate enough to change clinical practice, and results may not apply to all patients.
