Experimental vaccine aims to train body to attack breast cancer
NCT ID NCT06949410
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing a vaccine designed to help the immune system recognize and attack HER2-positive breast cancer cells. The vaccine contains two small pieces of the HER2 protein, similar to existing drugs, to trigger an immune response. The study will enroll 36 adults with advanced HER2-positive breast cancer to check safety and measure immune reactions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HER2 peptide vaccine (MVF-HER2 266-296 and MVF-HER2 597-626) with ISA 720 adjuvant
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a vaccine that trains the immune system to fight HER2-positive breast cancer, potentially reducing recurrence or improving outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 36 participants, focused on safety and immune response. It may not lead to clinical benefit, and side effects or lack of immune activation are possible.
