First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of targeted drugs (pyrotinib and trastuzumab) plus chemotherapy can completely eliminate HER2-positive breast cancer before surgery. About 182 women with early-stage disease will receive 8 cycles of treatment. The main goal is to see if no cancer remains in the breast or lymph nodes after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
pyrotinib, trastuzumab, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, paclitaxel
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could become a standard pre-surgery treatment to eliminate HER2-positive breast cancer before surgery, potentially improving long-term outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with only 182 participants, so results are preliminary. The drug combination may cause side effects like heart problems or severe infections, and may not work for everyone.
