New drug cocktail aims to wipe out breast cancer before surgery
NCT ID NCT06178159
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of three drugs—disitamab vedotin, pertuzumab, and toripalimab—can shrink or eliminate HER2-positive breast tumors before surgery. About 40 adults with early-stage breast cancer will receive the drugs intravenously for 18 weeks, then have surgery. The main goal is to see if the cancer is completely gone at the time of surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- disitamab vedotin, pertuzumab, and toripalimab (drugs given intravenously)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a more effective pre-surgery treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer, potentially improving the chance of eliminating all cancer before surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination of drugs may cause side effects, and it is not yet known if it works better than standard treatments.
