Heart test safety boost? trial tests blood thinner to stop artery clots

NCT ID NCT04374799

Summary

This study is testing if giving the blood thinner heparin during a common heart test prevents a complication where the wrist artery used for access gets blocked. About 1,623 patients having a planned heart catheterization through the wrist will be randomly assigned to receive no heparin, a low dose, or a high dose. The main goal is to see which approach best prevents artery blockage and reduces bleeding or bruising at the wrist site.
