Blood thinner showdown: can heparin save wrist arteries after heart procedures?

NCT ID NCT04374799

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving heparin (a blood thinner) during heart catheterization through the wrist can prevent the wrist artery from closing up afterward. About 1,600 adults will be randomly assigned to receive no heparin, a low dose, or a high dose. The main goal is to see which approach best keeps the artery open and reduces bleeding complications.
