Helmet vs. oxygen: race to keep ICU patients off ventilators
NCT ID NCT05089695
Summary
This study tests which breathing support method works best to avoid putting patients on mechanical ventilators. It compares two types of helmet-based breathing support against high-flow nasal oxygen in 1,200 ICU patients with severe breathing failure. The main goal is to see which method most effectively prevents the need for intubation and helps patients recover without invasive treatment.
