Tailoring anesthesia by height may prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during surgery in older adults

NCT ID NCT07363941

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two ways of giving spinal anesthesia to elderly patients (ages 60-80) having leg surgery. One method uses a standard fixed dose, while the other adjusts the dose based on the patient's height. The goal is to see if the height-based approach reduces risks like low blood pressure and slow heart rate during surgery. About 104 participants will be enrolled to find out which method provides safer and more stable anesthesia.
