Warmth as medicine: can heating pads fight heart disease risk after paralysis?
NCT ID NCT04971408
Summary
This study tested whether repeated sessions of passive heating (like using a heating pad or warm water) could help improve health for people with spinal cord injuries. People with these injuries have a higher risk of heart disease and diabetes, partly due to chronic inflammation. Since exercise can be difficult, researchers wanted to see if a simple, accessible heating routine could reduce inflammation and improve blood vessel and blood sugar health over eight weeks.
