First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot trial tests an online decision support tool called Chart that helps local health departments assess heat-health risks and plan for extreme heat events. Thirty health departments will either use Chart or receive standard heat-health information. The study measures how well the tool improves planning and identifies barriers to its use.

Active substance
Online decision support platform (Chart)
What this could lead to
If successful, this tool could help local health departments better protect communities during extreme heat events by identifying local risks and effective interventions.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The tool's impact depends on how well health departments adopt and use it.
