Does midnight heart harvest hurt survival? study investigates Timing's role in transplants

NCT ID NCT07301788

Summary

This study looked at whether the time of day a donor heart is collected affects how well heart transplant patients do afterward. Researchers followed 200 patients who received heart transplants for up to three years, comparing outcomes between hearts collected during daytime versus nighttime hours. They analyzed leftover tissue and fluid from the transplants to understand biological differences that might explain any effects on survival or rejection.
