Scientists study tiny heart tissue samples to unlock secrets of infant heart strength
NCT ID NCT00243776
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study uses small pieces of heart tissue removed during necessary heart surgery in children with congenital heart disease. Researchers want to learn how calcium helps heart cells control their contraction force and how this differs between infants and adults. They also aim to use this knowledge to create better lab-grown heart cells for future treatments. The study involves up to 600 participants and is currently recruiting.
