Heart surgeons test One-Step stroke shield during operations
NCT ID NCT07360899
Summary
This study is testing whether closing a small pouch in the heart during planned heart surgery can safely prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation. Researchers will use a special suture device called AtriLASH to seal the pouch where blood clots often form. The goal is to see if this approach reduces stroke risk and could help some patients avoid long-term blood-thinning medications.
