Heartburn drug could shield kidneys in High-Risk heart surgery
NCT ID NCT06154226
Summary
This study tested if giving the heartburn medicine pantoprazole during heart surgery could prevent a common and serious complication: sudden kidney injury. Researchers compared it to another medicine (famotidine) in 100 patients at high risk for this problem. The goal was to see if the drug could improve kidney function and reduce kidney damage after surgery.
