New heart treatment aims to reduce bleeding risk without stents

NCT ID NCT05221931

Summary

This study compares two procedures for opening clogged heart arteries in patients who are at high risk of serious bleeding. It tests whether a drug-coated balloon, which leaves no permanent implant, works as well as the standard drug-coated metal stent. The goal is to see if the balloon approach allows patients to safely take blood-thinning medication for a shorter time, reducing their bleeding risk while still protecting their heart.
