Heart scan could pinpoint who needs a Life-Saving defibrillator
NCT ID NCT07415642
Summary
This study aims to find out if a special heart MRI scan can better identify which patients with a weakened heart muscle are at high risk for sudden cardiac death and would benefit from an implanted defibrillator (ICD). It will enroll 720 patients who have a weakened heart not caused by blocked arteries. Patients whose scan shows heart scarring will be randomly assigned to receive either an ICD plus standard medication or medication alone to see which approach is better at preventing death.
