Could a simple blood test better predict heart attacks in kidney patients?

NCT ID NCT07141628

Summary

This study aims to understand if high levels of a blood fat called lipoprotein A (Lp(a)) can better predict the risk of heart attacks, strokes, or needing dialysis in people with advanced kidney disease. Researchers will follow 300 patients with stage 4 kidney disease for 18 months to see if high Lp(a) is linked to more heart or kidney problems. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help doctors identify which patients need more intensive monitoring or future treatments.
