Heart drug trial aims to stop dangerous Post-Surgery complication

NCT ID NCT06067438

Summary

This study is testing if a heart medication called amiodarone can prevent a common and serious irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) after a specific type of esophageal cancer surgery. About 90 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the real medication or a placebo (inactive substance) for one week after their operation. Researchers will track if the medication reduces the irregular heartbeat and other complications, aiming to establish a standard prevention method.
