First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether a heart pump (Impella 5.5) combined with optimized heart failure medications can help people with severe heart failure and shock recover without needing a transplant or permanent heart assist device. About 250 adults aged 18-79 with a weak heart pump (LVEF ≤40%) and cardiogenic shock will take part. The goal is to see if this approach reduces death, hospital stays, and the need for heart replacement.
