Pacemaker tweak may lower blood pressure in early test

NCT ID NCT05345925

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This small, completed study tested whether special pacing signals from a pacemaker could help control blood pressure in people with slow heartbeats. Five adults who needed a pacemaker or similar device took part. Researchers measured blood pressure and heart function during brief periods of the special pacing and compared them to standard pacing.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Cardiac neuromodulation therapy (CNT) pacing signals delivered by a pacemaker device

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a new way to manage blood pressure in people who already need a pacemaker.

What could go wrong

This was a very small, short-term study with only 5 participants. It only measured immediate effects, not long-term safety or benefits. The results may not apply to everyone.
