A personal guide to better heart health after pregnancy complications

NCT ID NCT07701148

First seen Jul 14, 2026 · Last updated Jul 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a patient navigator — a trained staff member who helps connect people with health services — can improve long-term heart health for those who had high blood pressure disorders during pregnancy. About 60 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or additional support from a navigator for one year. The goal is to see if this program is practical and acceptable, and whether it helps people attend follow-up appointments and adopt heart-healthy behaviors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a patient navigation program provided by a Community Wellness Advocate (CWA)
What this could lead to
If effective, this program could become a standard way to help people with pregnancy-related high blood pressure get the long-term heart care they need.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program may not improve health outcomes as hoped.
