Heart scans vs. biopsies: researchers seek better fibrosis detection

NCT ID NCT07331116

Summary

This completed study aimed to understand how well standard heart ultrasound (echocardiography) can detect heart muscle scarring (fibrosis) in patients with severe aortic valve narrowing. Researchers analyzed existing data from 22 patients who had both ultrasound scans and small tissue samples taken during their valve surgery. The goal was to find connections between scan measurements and actual tissue findings to potentially improve future non-invasive detection.
