Heart scarring secrets revealed in aortic stenosis study

NCT ID NCT07331116

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study examined 22 patients with severe aortic stenosis who were scheduled for valve surgery. Before surgery, they had an ultrasound of the heart, and during surgery a tiny sample of heart muscle was taken to check for scarring. The goal was to see if ultrasound measurements could predict scarring, which might help doctors assess heart damage without needing a biopsy.
