Could a common pill stop heart failure before it starts?
NCT ID NCT06507657
Summary
This study is testing whether empagliflozin, a medication originally for diabetes, can improve heart function in older adults at risk for heart failure. Researchers will give 80 participants either the medication or a placebo pill daily for 9 months to see if it strengthens the heart's upper chamber. The goal is to prevent heart failure in people with high blood pressure and obesity who don't yet have the condition.
