New procedure targets nerves to ease heart failure complication

NCT ID NCT05996562

Summary

This small, completed pilot study tested a procedure called pulmonary artery denervation (PADN) for people with chronic heart failure who also had high blood pressure in their lungs. The goal was to see if using a catheter to disrupt certain nerves in the lung artery was safe and could improve patients' ability to walk and function. Thirty participants who were already on stable heart failure medications underwent the procedure and were followed for one year.
