Potassium binder may unlock lifesaving heart drugs for seniors

NCT ID NCT06578078

First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether a potassium-lowering drug (SZC) can help elderly patients (70+) with heart failure and chronic kidney disease safely increase their doses of RAASi medications, which are often limited by high potassium levels. About 94 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either SZC plus RAASi or RAASi alone. The goal is to see if more patients can reach recommended RAASi doses after 3 months.
