Can a simple blood test predict kidney trouble in heart failure treatment?

NCT ID NCT00561483

Summary

This study aimed to understand if tracking a blood marker called cystatin C could give doctors early warning that a patient's kidneys might be harmed by the fluid-removing (diuretic) drugs used to treat sudden heart failure. Researchers followed 64 hospitalized patients, taking daily blood samples to see how cystatin C levels changed compared to standard kidney tests. The goal was to gather information to help design future studies that could make heart failure treatment safer for the kidneys.
