New heart scan could spot nerve damage in heart failure patients

NCT ID NCT06965621

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a new imaging agent called 18F-mFBG to see how well it can show nerve damage in the hearts of people with heart failure and an implantable defibrillator (ICD). About 20 adults with stable heart failure will get a PET scan after receiving the agent. Researchers will compare the images to past scans and check if the nerve damage patterns differ between those who had an ICD shock and those who did not. The goal is to improve detection of heart nerve problems, not to treat the disease.
