Could a simple urine test help heart failure patients leave the hospital sooner?

NCT ID NCT04481919

Summary

This study is testing if a specific treatment plan for water pills (diuretics), guided by a simple urine sodium test, works better than standard emergency room care for people with sudden worsening of heart failure. About 474 patients will be randomly assigned to get either the new urine-guided plan or the usual care. The main goal is to see if the new plan helps patients feel better more quickly and spend fewer days in the hospital over a two-week period.
