Scientists probe Heart's hidden fuel problem
NCT ID NCT07309523
Summary
This study aims to understand why the heart muscle weakens at higher heart rates in people with heart failure and diabetes. Researchers will collect small samples of fat, muscle, and blood from 160 patients during their scheduled pacemaker or defibrillator surgery. By analyzing these samples and monitoring patients for up to 10 years, the goal is to learn how metabolism problems might drive heart failure to develop new future treatments.
