New device aims to drain fluid when pills fail in heart failure crisis

NCT ID NCT03836079

Summary

This study tested a medical device called the preCARDIA System in people hospitalized with severe, sudden worsening of heart failure. The device is designed to help the body remove excess fluid when standard water pills (diuretics) aren't working well enough. Researchers checked if the device was safe and if it helped improve the patients' condition.
