Heart pill trial aims to speed recovery after major heart surgery

NCT ID NCT06171802

Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called empagliflozin helps the heart recover better after surgery to replace a narrowed aortic valve. About 205 patients who have this surgery will receive either the real drug or a placebo pill for six months. Researchers will check if the drug reduces heart strain and improves symptoms like shortness of breath compared to the placebo.
