Heart attack mystery: why cholesterol drugs fail some patients

NCT ID NCT06936111

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people with coronary heart disease continue to develop plaque buildup in their arteries despite taking strong cholesterol-lowering medications. Researchers will follow 900 patients who have had heart procedures, using special ultrasound imaging to track plaque changes over time. The study focuses on identifying whether remaining cholesterol or inflammation causes this continued plaque growth.
