Hidden heart risk in cancer survivors: new study seeks early warning signs

NCT ID NCT01671696

Summary

This study aimed to find better ways to detect early, hidden heart damage in people who survived childhood cancer after receiving certain chemotherapy drugs called anthracyclines. Researchers used advanced heart scans (MRI) and blood tests to look for subtle signs of heart problems before symptoms appear. The goal was to gather knowledge to help develop future treatments to prevent heart failure in this at-risk group.
