New approach aims to clear tiny blockages after heart attack procedures

NCT ID NCT03335839

Summary

This study tested whether adding a very small dose of a clot-dissolving drug directly into the blocked heart artery during emergency heart attack treatment could improve blood flow to the heart muscle. The research involved 210 patients who had major heart attacks and were undergoing emergency artery-opening procedures. The goal was to see if this approach could prevent tiny blockages from forming and reduce serious heart complications in the month after treatment.
