New scan could spare heart attack patients risky, unnecessary procedures

NCT ID NCT02360150

Summary

This study tested if a special type of CT scan could work as well as an MRI to check if heart muscle is still alive after a heart attack. Doctors need this information to decide if a procedure to reopen a blocked artery is worthwhile. The goal was to see if the CT scan could provide the same answers, potentially allowing patients to avoid extra tests and hospital time.
