New blood test could predict your next heart attack
NCT ID NCT05175261
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new blood test that measures a protein on platelets called FcγRIIa. Researchers wanted to see if higher levels of this protein could predict future heart attacks, strokes, or death in people who had already had a heart attack. About 764 participants were enrolled and followed for up to 18 months. The goal is to develop a risk score combining this test with other factors to guide treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Prolocor pFCG test (a blood test measuring platelet FcγRIIa levels)
What this could lead to
If successful, this test could help doctors better identify heart attack survivors at highest risk of future heart attacks or strokes, allowing for more personalized care.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The test may not prove accurate enough for routine use, and results may not apply to all patients.
