Gene test may cut bleeding risk in heart attack survivors

NCT ID NCT05577988

First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick genetic test can help doctors pick a milder blood thinner for heart attack patients who are at high risk of bleeding. About 2,468 adults who had a heart attack and are on strong blood thinners will be randomly assigned to either continue a strong drug or switch to a gentler one based on their genes. The goal is to see if the gene-guided approach leads to fewer bleeding problems while still preventing future heart issues.
