New drug combo aims to stop heart attacks before they happen
NCT ID NCT06863545
Summary
This study is testing whether adding a newer type of cholesterol-lowering drug (called a PCSK9 inhibitor) to standard treatment can better prevent heart attacks, strokes, and related deaths. It will involve about 3,600 adults who have high-risk, unstable plaque buildup in their heart arteries, as seen on a special CT scan. The goal is to see if this more intensive treatment reduces serious heart and brain events over two years compared to standard care alone.
