Double-Duty blood thinners tested to shield heart patients after surgery

NCT ID NCT03560310

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a second blood-thinning drug (ticagrelor) to standard aspirin therapy is better at preventing serious heart problems after bypass surgery. It involves over 2,200 patients who recently had bypass surgery following a heart attack or severe chest pain. Patients are randomly assigned to take either the two-drug combination or aspirin alone for one year, and their health is tracked through phone calls and medical records.
