Scientists map hidden inflammation in heart attack patients

NCT ID NCT02823886

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the body's inflammatory response after a heart attack relates to the amount of heart muscle damage. Researchers measured specific inflammation markers in the blood of 21 patients and compared them to detailed heart images from MRI scans taken a week later. The goal was to gather knowledge that could help develop future treatments to protect the heart after an attack.
