Ambulance steroid shot aims to curb heart attack damage

NCT ID NCT05462730

Summary

This study tested if giving a single, strong dose of an anti-inflammatory steroid (methylprednisolone) in the ambulance could reduce permanent heart damage in people having a major heart attack (STEMI). The goal was to see if quickly calming inflammation during treatment could protect the heart muscle, potentially preventing future heart failure. Researchers enrolled 530 patients to compare the steroid treatment against standard care.
