Could a simple injection after a heart attack stop heart failure?

NCT ID NCT05177822

Summary

This study is testing if a drug that reduces inflammation (anakinra) can prevent heart failure in people who have just had a heart attack. Researchers believe the body's inflammatory response to the heart attack may contribute to future heart weakness. About 84 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo via injection for two weeks after their heart attack and be followed for one year to see if it improves their heart's recovery and fitness.
