Shockwave balloon tested to blast away heart artery calcium

NCT ID NCT07444346

Summary

This study is testing a procedure called intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) for people with severe calcium buildup in their heart arteries. Doctors use a special balloon that sends shockwaves to crack the hard calcium, making it easier to place a stent to open the artery. The study will follow 200 patients to see how well this procedure works and how safe it is for treating these tough blockages.
