Community-Led program aims to turn the tide on chronic disease for pacific islanders
NCT ID NCT06471595
Summary
This study tested a lifestyle program designed specifically for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities to help control chronic health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. The program combined nutrition and exercise coaching with support for social needs like food access and housing, and was delivered by trusted community health workers. Researchers compared the health of 180 participants who received the program immediately to those on a waitlist to see if it improved key health markers.
