Scientists use hot sauce and brain freeze to crack headache code

NCT ID NCT03511846

Summary

This study aims to better understand the biology of different headache disorders, including migraines and cluster headaches. Researchers will use capsaicin (from chili peppers) and ice water to trigger mild, temporary pain responses in participants with headaches and healthy volunteers. By measuring body fluids and physical responses, they hope to identify biological markers that explain how these headaches work and how treatments like oxygen therapy might help.
