Glowing dye could help surgeons spot hidden cancer cells during operations

NCT ID NCT04842162

Summary

This study is testing whether a special dye that glows under near-infrared light can help surgeons see tiny leftover cancer cells during head and neck cancer surgery. The dye is injected before surgery and lights up cancer tissue, potentially helping surgeons remove more cancer in one operation. The trial will enroll 65 adults with operable head and neck cancer to see how well this imaging technique detects microscopic disease.
