Is a 24-Hour hospital stay necessary after a minor head bump?
NCT ID NCT07195760
Summary
This study aims to gather evidence on whether older adults taking blood thinners need to stay in the hospital for 24 hours after a mild head injury if their initial brain scan is normal. Researchers are observing 600 patients to see if delayed bleeding or other complications occur, and if the current guideline for observation is helpful or causes other problems like delirium. The goal is to improve future care recommendations.
